Rogue River
The 'Wild & Scenic' Rogue River is one of the West's most famous and enchanting waterways. A Pacific Coast wonderland of deep green pools, lush forests, and sparkling waterfalls. Dark forests shelter an abundance of wildlife, while the river itself has long been famous for world-class fishing and white water rafting. From its headwaters along the crest of the Cascade Range near Crater Lake, the Rogue runs generally west for 200 miles to the Pacific Ocean. Rogue Klamath River Adventures is located right on the Rogue River and knows it as well as any outfitter in the business. We offer a variety of trips, making a river trip available to everyone. For ease of planning, we divide the Rogue into three sections, with different experiences available in each. Gold Hill - this section of the river flows 14 miles from the Gold Rey Dam above Gold Hill, past the Valley of the Rogue State Park, and to the aptly names town of Rogue River. Gold Hill is also where we have our riverside park and raft rental facility called The Tahiti Hut. This stretch contains one of the best half-day whitewater runs anywhere (the Nugget-Powerhouse), as well as a family friendly float that can do on your own in one of our inflatable craft. Half- and full-day trips are available. Recreation - The nationally designated "Recreation" section of the Rogue flows 16 miles from the confluence of the Applegate River in Grant's Pass to the Grave's Creek boat ramp in Galice. Combining lush scenery with excellent wildlife and whitewater, this stretch includes Hellgate Canyon and a rich gold-mining history. Full and two-day trips are available with an option to either camp or stay at a riverside lodge. Wild and Scenic - A charter member of the National Wild & Scenic Rivers Act, the Rogue River Canyon is a unique and outstanding experience, accessible only by foot or boat. The ultimate river trip. Three day trips are available with camping or lodge option.
Gold Hill SectionHalf Day WhitewaterOur half-day whitewater trip on the Wild & Scenic Rogue River is a great introduction to whitewater rafting and one of our most popular trips. The put-in location is just below Gold Rey Dam about 7 miles upriver from the tiny town of Gold Hill. This section of the river offers two thrilling Class IV rapids, many other smaller rapids and even a few surprises! Our 1/2 day Rogue Whitewater trip is longer and offers more rapids than our competitors, since you end at our riverside park which is further downstream from the usual take-out for other outfitters. Your car has been parked in our lot with an attendant on duty, and you can make use of our changing booths, bathroom facilities and our shaded, grassy riverside park with picnic tables before you go about your day in the area. You'll get a great taste of whitewater adventure, leaving plenty of time left in your day to enjoy some of the other sights of Southern Oregon. Children as young as 8 years of age are welcome on this trip - making it a perfect adventure for the whole family. Half-day trips include transportation, equipment, and a snack of chips and salsa, veggies, dip and cookies, plus water & lemonade or iced tea. Adults: $75 per person Full Day Whitewater/Scenic
On our full day trip, you get a 'taste' of everything... beautiful scenery, peaceful float sections, and mild to medium rapids. After a thrilling morning with your guide on the Nugget-Powerhouse section of the river, we'll stop mid-day for a picnic lunch at our riverside park and a little rest and relaxation. After lunch you'll be able to tackle a less demanding section of the river on your own via Inflatable Kayaks (we'll provide instruction on the kayaks, if you'd like). This leisurely self-guided float takes about 2+ hours. We'll provide your shuttle return to our riverside park and your vehicle. We invite you to join us on this full day of rafting fun! Adults: $109 per person Recreation SectionThese trips incorporate the "Recreation" section of the Wild & Scenic Rogue River - 12 to 16 miles of mild and fun rapids from the confluence of the Applegate River near Grant's Pass, OR, to Graves Creek - a perfect introduction to the Rogue. This is a wonderful scenic float trip with long calm water drifts and a happy mixture of some Class II rapids to keep it exciting. Wildlife abounds and there's lots of time for sunning and swimming, water fights and photo opportunities. As you float down the river you will encounter an abundance of wildlife: eagles, osprey, great blue herons, turtles, deer, river otters, even an occasional black bear. Our guides are well versed in local history, as well as the wildlife that surrounds you, making for an informative adventure for all. On all trips you can choose to relax on the raft or try the challenge of our inflatable kayaks. Children as young as 6 are welcome on this section, making it the perfect family vacation. This portion of the Rogue River is designated a National Scenic River and is administered by the Bureau of Land Management, specifically the Grants Pass Resource Area. RKRA is an authorized permitee of the BLM, offering tours on this section of the Rogue under Special Recreation Permit MRP 210. Single day whitewater/scenic float trip 2 day/1 Night Camp Trip Camp out under the stars, listening to the river's lullaby; enjoy a hearty camp side dinner and hot breakfast before you start out again for another day's rafting adventure. Adults: $329 per person 2 day/1 night Lodge trip We end the first day of our Rogue River rafting adventure at the historic Morrison's Rogue River Lodge. Fresh local ingredients that are in season are used, and everything is made from scratch in the kitchen. After a gourmet deli lunch, we'll enjoy a few more hours of bliss on the river and then we'll meet up with the Rogue Klamath River Adventures van to shuttle you back to your vehicle. 2day/1 night Lodge trip Wild & Scenic3 day/2 night Camping & Lodge tripsAre you looking for a wild and wonderful place to experience nature in all its glory? Not sure such places still really exist? Look no further - Oregon's Rogue River Canyon is one of the most beautiful and remote places on earth. Wildlife abounds - from otter to bear, eagles to deer. We float 34 miles in three days, yet time seems to literally stand still. The whitewater rapids that we challenge in rafts and inflatable kayaks are primarily (Class 3) and smaller. One non-navigable (Class 6) rapid called Rainey Falls we portage around, but it's a great place for family photos, using it as a back drop!
There are many opportunities for hiking, swimming, sunning, water fights and quiet reflection, as well. Come share our little corner of heaven with us - you'll never want to leave!
One option for this trip is the camp option. Our "downriver" style allows for more flexibility of where you stop and camp. You can expect tasty riverside meals with an emphasis on grilling and Dutch oven wizardry; quality backpack style tent, bag, and pad sleeping gear; using a basic "groover" rafting toilet in the woods; and feeling completely removed from civilization. Fall asleep under a blanket of stars, listening to the river and the breeze in the trees. We can also stay in cozy lodges at night (based upon availability, please book early). You will be assigned a cabin or room. Rooms are generally double occupancy, but some rooms can accommodate up to five people. The cabins or rooms generally each have two twin beds (the lodges were originally designed for fishermen, thus the twin beds) with separate, private bathrooms with shower. Very nice, although perhaps a little rustic. Imagine challenging the river all day - enjoying the sunshine and scenery, swimming and paddling; but then being able to enjoy a great meal, a shower and falling blissfully asleep in a comfy bed, listening to the river. It doesn't get better than this! Mornings you will awake to a country breakfast and off you go for another exciting day on the river with your wonderful guides. Rogue River lodges are unique in many ways. Rustic but friendly, these lodges provide a wonderful haven for our guests each summer. They are located right off the river's edge on the wilderness section of southern Oregon's Rogue River. The Lower Rogue Canyon is designated a National Wild & Scenic River, administered by the Bureau of Land Management, specifically the Grants Pass Resource Area. RKRA is not currently a permittee in the Lower Canyon, but we are able to offer trips on this section of the river through the cooperative efforts of two of our colleague outfitters: Arrowhead River Adventures and Whitewater Warehouse. Both of these outfitters are BLM permittees in the Lower Canyon; both have the same high quality river trips as RKRA with an emphasis on fun, safety, education, and good food; and between the two they offer a wide variety of available launch dates, trip lengths, and overnight accomodations. We are happy to help you plan a multi-day trip on this incredible national treasure - just give us a call!
3 day/2 night camp trip: NOTE: We provide everything necessary to make these trips the adventure of a lifetime for you and your family. In cooler weather that includes splash jackets, fleeces, neoprene booties, and wetsuits. We will also do our very best to accommodate any dietary restrictions you may have. Since the lodges run on generators, they ask that you not bring hair dryers on your trip. We're close to Oregon's Medford airport and will gladly pick you up there or at any hotel in the Ashland/Medford, Grant's Pass or Galice area on launch day and escort you to the river. We'll then deliver you back to your car/hotel/flight at the end of our time together. Please Note: Trip prices do not include a 5% surcharge which covers all government use fees, permits, and outfitter licensing costs. This includes a 3% river use fee levied by the Bureau of Land Management and U.S Forest Service. Rogue Klamath|About Us|Contact Us|Reservations|Affiliates|Rates
