Weekend Getaways

Rogue Klamath River Adventures has planned a series of special weekend getaways designed to maximize your vacation enjoyment and value. Imagine unwinding with friends after a day of exhilarating rafting, or perhaps enjoying a fine wine by the fire, or stretching out the kinks with a yoga session. Engage your senses by tasting delicious new dishes, or by filling the mountain air with the twang of bluegrass. Sleep the deep sleep that follows good exercise, good food, fresh air and the soothing sound of the river. Scattered throughout the summer, one of these special events will fit your schedule and tastes.

Father's Day Frenzy - Saturday and Sunday June 14-15
Paddle and Pose - Friday night, June 20 through Sunday, June 22
Whitewater and Bluegrass - Friday night, July 4 through Sunday, July 6
Whitewater and White Wine - Friday night, July 18 through Sunday, July 20
Paddle and Perseid - Saturday and Sunday, August 2-3
Whitewater and Red Wine - Saturday and Sunday, August 16 & 17
Boats and Bigfoot - Friday through SundayAugust 29 through August 31

These weekends are what WE enjoy when we need to getaway. Weekends that are filled with great rafting, fresh air, outstanding food, and hearty laughs. Weekends that although filled with activity, still allow time for relaxation, reading, photography, fishing, and napping. Weekends scheduled around the full moons of summer, stretching the long days even longer with lunar glow evenings. Weekends where all you have to do is drive to our meeting place, and all else is taken care of for you.

Consider these getaways "Pamper the Camper - Plus". In addition to the comfort of cabin tents, cots, and fireside lounge chairs, our base camp allows more time for you, as we don't need to put up and take down camp each day. You can bring your favorite toys, and our camp host ensures security while we play on the river.

And oh the food! Except for all the activity you might even gain weight on one of these trips! We take advantage of Southern Oregon's many orchards, ranches, rivers and farms, as this is the birthplace of the nation's organic and sustainable food movement. We showcase the region's finest offerings, to include artisan cheeses from Rogue Creamery, organic produce from the Rogue Valley, fresh Salmon from the local rivers, and fresh produce from The Old Butte Mill. We use sustainable fish & seafood, free-range fowl, wild game, and meats free from introduced steroids and hormones.

And our guides-turned-chefs can transform theses healthy natural ingredients into memorable feasts and culinary experiences! As we like to say, "Come for the rafting; stay for the food!".

So check out our getaway weekends - whatever your desire or schedule, we have a getaway for you! (Space is limited, please reserve early.)

FATHER'S DAY FRENZY - (June 14-15) - Upper Klamath

PADDLE AND POSE (June 20-22) - Lower Klamath (Downriver Style)

Immerse yourself in the healing practice of yoga combined with a three day downriver excursion of rafting, hiking, swimming, stargazing, great food and sublime company. You will be presented with the movements of yoga as a way to open your heart, create space in your body and connect with nature. The yoga portion of the trip begins with morning meditation and asana (physical poses) before breakfast, afternoon asana practice and other optional activities after dinner. Join us for a wilderness experience that will enrich your life long after you return home. The schedule is flexible and the level of participation is completely up to each individual. All levels of experience are welcome. Bring a yoga mat!

Option available for Thai Yoga Massage - a combination of penetrating massage & gentle yoga movements into a profound healing system. It will leave you feeling deeply nourished, relaxed, and filled with energy. Through deep muscle stretching, joint release and emphasis on breath, Thai massage offers the same benefits of yoga while encouraging the body to relax more effectively. Massage takes place on a patted futon mat, and participants remain clothed. Four massage slots are available on this trip so reserve them early!

Our yoga trips are lead by Emily Williams. Emily integrates Iyengar and Vinyasa yoga into her teaching style, creating a focused, deep flow intended to challenge and open the practitioners to their own strength, lightness and grace. Her classes integrate a focus on breath with an awareness of alignment, while encouraging her students to gently transcend any perceived limitations. Emily has been teaching since 2002 and has completed over 400 hours of training. Emily is also an outdoor educator, naturalist and currently works in environmental education. She lives and teaches in Truckee, CA.

WHITEWATER AND BLUEGRASS (July 4 - July 6) - Lower Klamath

This musical getaway is to attract both musicians and listeners. The base camp model eliminates concerns about wet, lost, or damaged instruments, while allowing more time for jam sessions and the exchange of music. Come and play out under the stars as the campfire roars, while our expert backcountry chefs grill a traditional Western barbeque for dinner! The Fourth of July, BarBQ and Bluegrass - it doesn't get any more American than that!

WHITEWATER AND WHITE WINE - (July 18-20) - Lower Klamath

Our wine weekends have proven very popular and this will be no exception. Since the Lower Klamath is in California, we feature California whites - fruity Chardonnays, light Pinots, bubbly Champagnes - perfectly paired with California cuisine - light, fresh, creative and wholesome. In addition to little known vintners from Napa and Sonoma, we also have some choice offerings from Anderson Valley, California's burgeoning new appellation.

PADDLE AND PERSEID - (August 2-3) - Upper Klamath

Shooting the rapids of the Upper Klamath by day, shooting stars across a velvet sky by night. Set on a weekend during the annual Perseid meteor shower, we take advantage of the remote and light-free Frain Ranch to set up camp and watch Nature's fireworks. A knowledgeable astronomer will assist. Stargazers and thrill seekers - welcome!

WHITEWATER AND RED WINE - (August 16 & 17) - Upper Klamath

Oregon is the world's hottest new wine appellation, as its many vineyards and vintners are reaching maturity. Rich soils, temperate climes, and world-class craftsman coincide to create elixirs of taste and complexity found only in the best wines. We feature wines from Southern Oregon's most acclaimed vineyards: Troon, Roxy, Crater Lake Cellars, and Jacksonville Vineyards, to name just a few.

With a special emphasis on matching wines to the cuisine, you can expect to experience different choices each dinner, depending on course and dish. On the whitewater and red wine trip expect unexpected dishes such as buffalo ragout, elk steaks, or goose a la orange, all paired with hearty vintages that complement hearty meals.

Evenings end with rich desserts, coffee, and select after dinner libations.

BOATS AND BIGFOOT - (August 29-31) - Lower Klamath

The Lower Klamath River is the home of numerous Bigfoot sightings, a fact proudly celebrated by the residents of Happy Camp, CA and surrounding communities on Labor Day weekend each year. In addition to rafting, we'll head into town one afternoon for the Bigfoot Festival to sample local fare, admire arts & crafts, and just maybe, see Bigfoot himself. This is a great trip for kids and a most memorable way to end the summer.
